We first met our client in 2006 when we sold him a rare New Mexico book and over the years we have continued to help him develop his collection of American literature and all things related to the history and literature of New Mexico, one volume at a time.
We had the opportunity recently to visit our client’s library in New Mexico and were in awe of all the details beyond the books including the beautiful custom bookcases and fine mid-century furnishings. The book collection itself is probably one of the finest of its kind ever assembled – there are extensive holdings of authors connected to New Mexico – Willa Cather, DH Lawrence, Will James, J. Frank Dobie, and many others. With New Mexico’s long history of native communities and pueblos, 500 years since the early days of the Spanish, and fascinating stories of cowboys and outlaws, there is a tremendous amount of material to be collected.
We have assisted in building this collection over the years and hope to continue to do so, in many cases helping our client to upgrade existing holdings to better condition copies, first editions, signed association copies, etc. We have also assisted this client in selling his duplicate copies as he has upgraded his books.
Our client is very avid book buyer and collector, this is a good example of how we work with clients to support their vision over time, not all of our projects are complete collections purchased at a single time and certainly this project exemplifies our ability to help a client with collectible material.
