How to Care for Your Dust Jackets

Your Juniper Books dust jackets are made to be displayed, admired, and enjoyed for years. A little gentle care keeps the colors bright, the artwork crisp, and the foil details shining on your shelves.

The good news: caring for your jackets takes only a soft cloth and a light touch. Here's everything you need to know.

Everyday dusting

Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe your dust jackets. A microfiber cloth works beautifully. Wipe in light, even strokes from the spine outward, and support the book with your other hand so the jacket doesn't shift or crease.

A quick dusting every few weeks is usually all your collection needs to stay looking fresh.

Be extra gentle with foiling

Foil details are one of the most striking parts of many of our designs, and they're also the most delicate. Take extra care around any foiled areas.

Never rub foiling hard. Pressure and friction can dull the shine or scratch the foil. Instead, use the lightest possible touch, or simply lift dust away with a soft, dry cloth.

For very dirty jackets

If a jacket needs more than a dusting, it can be wiped gently with 70–90% isopropyl alcohol on a soft cloth.

  1. Lightly dampen a soft, lint-free cloth with the alcohol. The cloth should be damp, not wet.
  2. Wipe the soiled area gently, using light strokes.
  3. Let the jacket air dry completely before handling or reshelving.

As always, be extra gentle over any foiled areas.

Enjoy your collection

A soft cloth, a light hand, and a little extra care around the foil are all it takes. Treat your dust jackets gently, and they'll keep your library looking beautiful for years to come.
