Bookworms, assemble! The 2025 book lineup is looking positively epic, and if you’re anything like us, your TBR pile is about to become a full-blown mountain. Let’s dive into the literary feast of 2025 with a rundown of some of the most highly anticipated releases of the year.

Possibly THE most anticipated book on this list, it’s Rebecca Yarros' Onyx Storm. Dragons? Check. War college drama? Check. Violet Sorrengail facing impossible odds? Double check. In Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros released January 21st, 2025, Violet is done with the classroom and ready to tackle the dangers of a world where the odds are never in her favor. She’s got dragons to save, secrets to keep, and armies to rally. Yarros promises epic battles, high stakes, and a storm so fierce, you know not everyone will make it out alive. Stock up on the tissues—this one’s going to hurt so good.

On April 8th, Lauren Roberts is bringing the Powerless series to a close with the third installment, Fearless, a conclusion to Paedyn and Kai’s treacherous journey. The two return to the Kingdom of Ilya, where Paedyn faces a life-altering choice that could singlehandedly doom or save everyone she loves, but no pressure right? Leigh Bardugo’s dark academia masterpiece continues with Ninth House Book #3 set to release sometime late 2025. Galaxy “Alex” Stern dives deeper into Yale’s secret societies, where sinister activities and morally ambiguous characters reign. If the first two books left you reeling, buckle up for this mind-blowing continuation, it’s bound to get your blood pumping once more.

Then there’s The Encanto’s Curse, the second book after The Encanto’s Daughter by Melissa de la Cruz, coming out on March 4th of 2025. Vampires meet royalty in this supernatural adventure, where Queen MJ has to tackle a manananggal (think vampire, but way creepier) and the shocking discovery that she might have been the monster all along. It’s part horror, part fantasy, and all intrigue.

Another book coming out in March, and possibly one of the most highly anticipated books in years, is Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins, a prequel to The Hunger Games that explores the brutal 50th Hunger Games and Haymitch’s role in them, as well as the early days of Panem’s propaganda machine. We know fans all over have been begging for Haymitch’s backstory, and the Queen herself has finally answered. So get ready Tributes Suzanne Collins is ready to break our hearts all over again.

For fans of gothic literature, V.E. Schwab’s Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil, coming June 2025, promises blood-soaked romance, toxic vampires, and existential musings on humanity. Inspired by Florence + the Machine and Anne Rice, it’s perfect for readers who love dark, poetic storytelling with a hint of nihilism to brighten the day.

T.J. Klune’s The Bones Beneath My Skin, which arrived February 4th, 2025, is a supernatural road trip with cults, government conspiracies, and BIG existential questions. Think The House in the Cerulean Sea meets The X-Files. If you’re a fan of quirky, heartfelt stories, you’ll want to grab this one quickly.

For a bit of chaos (and a lot of romance), Sweet Chaos by Tracy Wolff, coming out May 6th, 2025, takes us back to Mozart and Simon's story as the second book in the Sweet Nightmare Series. Mozart (a dragon shifter) and Simon (a siren shifter) navigate the supernatural hurricane that revealed killer portals to the students' worst nightmares; now they must try and save their world from the secret society trying to drag it under.
